Herbs have been used as medicine since the dawning of mankind.  (You could call it the longest clinical trial in human history!)  Chinese herbs are almost always used in a formula composed of 2 to 20+ herbs which are carefully chosen to treat specific conditions and provide balance within the formula.  When herbs are combined like this, it is possible to achieve highly individualized, complex, and thorough treatment, with no side effects when used correctly.

When using herbal formulas, as you heal, the formula you need will most likely change as your symptoms change.  Symptoms lessen in timing and/or severity, other less pressing issues become a priority as major problems resolve, or sometimes more superficial symptoms heal and reveal deeper problems.  What ever the instance, the herbal formula best suited for you in each phase of healing will most likely change from time to time.  On the other hand, when working with long standing illnesses, or particularly stubborn ones, it is common to use the same formula for extended periods of time.

Herbal consultation is included in with regular acupuncture treatments, however, herbal consultation is available as a stand alone option.  The herbs I use are highly regulated and rigorously tested to make sure that they are responsibly grown and harvested, and do not contain any contaminants.  I carry a large selection of commonly used formulas in office, and am able to quickly procure formulas that are more rarely used.
